Why Yoga?

The "Move well" workshops facilitated by Physiotherapist David Hall highlight the fact that achieving a healthy spine involves four main factors - core stability, spinal flexibility, neural dynamics and body awareness.

Yoga is one of the few activities that enhances all four of these factors. As long as the level and pace is appropriate for you, we recommend it as a form of exercise for promoting physical wellbeing.

Depending on the instructor, a sense of mindfulness and meditation can also be brought into your Yoga practice. Psychologist Dr Ros Lethbridge outlines the importance of this in the "Think well" workshops she facilitates, as well as the "Stress management" training Ros and David provide.

The Yoga instructors below are known to the Positive Health team to provide high quality instruction. It is often a personal preference though, and we recommend you try a class before signing up for a full six week term.
